James LaBelle, PE, Doc.E.
Jim LaBelle joined CSD in 1981. He became a Senior associate in 2005. He has designed new, and repairs for existing, aluminum-framed curtain walls and windows, including systems for high-rise buildings. He has investigated and designed repairs for various structures including wood-pile foundations, structural (hollow) sidewalks, parking structures and masonry façades. Design equations in Structural Performance of Composite Thermal-Barrier Framing Systems (AAMA, TIR A8, 2004) are based on his doctoral dissertation and on later work. As co-researcher, he developed pull-out and pull-over equations for the Specification for Aluminum Structures. Dr. LaBelle serves as a member of the Engineering Advisory Committee (Aluminum Association), Curtain Wall Fastener TIR Task Group (American Architectural Manufacturers Association) and Performance of Buildings Committee (ASTM International).
