Over 900 precast panels clad this 94,000 square foot hospital. The wall panels include a combination of brick clad, limestone clad and exposed acid-etched concrete panels.
The limestone clad panels presented an unusual challenge on this project. Special anchorage tests of shear and tension loads were performed under the supervision of CSD. The test data was used to develop appropriate details and patterns for anchoring the limestone to the precast backup panels.
CSD and our client were able to design and produce panels that are virtually indistinguishable from the field installed limestone. Most of the field installed limestone was replaced with the clad precast panels which resulted in substantial time and cost savings for the project.
