In addition to the design of the equipment tower, CSD was responsible for the design of all access stairs. CSD worked with Nucor to provide a stair layout that met code requirements and accommodate equipment needs and access. Due to the nature of the open structure, stairs and supporting structure required unique design solutions to work with the primary structure. By partially assembling the stair towers on-site, erection of the units was simplified. This also allowed for early stair access without the need for temporary stairs.

CSD provides integrated stair and rail designs for industrial structures. CSD can also act as the Specialty Structural Engineer on projects with delegated or deferred stair and rail design scope. Our experience with industrial structures allows our team to provide designs to meet OSHA requirements or to achieve higher standards based on the Building Code.
